Running the Crim
Stories from the Coolest Race In Michigan
What is "Running the Crim" about?

Running the Crim is a collection of heartwarming and inspirational stories
written by ordinary people who tackled the Crim for a variety of reasons. The
Crim is Flint, Michigan's premier international ten-mile road race. You'll find
answers about the Crim, running, walking, and training in these motivational
personal accounts. The book was inspired by Dr. Ellis' own journey  from an
out-of-shape couch potato to Crim runner and athlete. You'll find your "inner
athlete" as you read through these life-changing descriptions sent in by
ordinary people who achieved the extraordinary by believing in themselves.

Who is Dr. Anthony Ellis?

Dr. Ellis is a geriatric psychiatrist and reformed couch-potato who took a new path
towards health and longevity in the year 2001, by getting off the couch and down
the road. He is now an avid road-race runner and wants to share information
about the
life-changing power of walking and running programs like the
Crim Training Program.
What is functional longevity?

Dr. Ellis believes you are at the helm of your own ship when it comes to
health and preserving your ability to function and live well independently.
Functional longevity is about taking care of your body and mind in order to
extend the useful, healthy, independent years of your life. What good is
living to age 90, if you can't do any of the things you enjoy and are
completely dependent on others? Group exercise can get you over the
three month hump that stops most would-be exercisers before their new
program can become a healthy habit. The book includes a chapter
discussing the health benefits of running or walking and the
brain-preserving effects of exercise.

Your health is your most important asset.
Maintaining your body is easier than fixing it.
Anyone can train for and finish a road race.
Reading these stories can change your life.
If these folks can do it, you can too!
