Every year since 1977, the people of Flint, Michigan join together in a
celebration of pure human endeavor in the Crim Festival of Races. The
signature event of the festival is the ten-mile event which has grown from 576
brave souls in 1977 to over 7000 participants in 2004. The ten-mile race has
been joined by a variety of shorter running, walking, and children's events to
become the biggest family festival in the greater Flint area, with more than
14,000 entrants in the festival race lineup.
The book was inspired by the editor's own experience with the Crim Training
Program featuring the "Galloway Method" of training proven successful for
thousands of former couch potatoes. Many of the stories in the book highlight
the transformational power of the training program, the largest of its kind in the
world. The book was written to celebrate the benefits of stepping out of your
comfort zone and into a healthier lifestyle anchored by routine exercise. The
motivation you need is in these stories written by ordinary people who achieved
the extraordinary by believing in themselves.
Jeff Galloway, US Olympian, running coach, and best selling author writes,
"The stories in this book will inspire you. They showcase the special philosophy of
the Crim organization and the positive effects on the health and attitude of the
community. This book can get you out of your chair and down the road."
The Crim Fitness Foundation supports Special Olympics and the Crim's youth
